Local events and activities

Looking for things to do in Feb half term?  Here are some ideas!



  • Spring Half Term Fun at Waterperry: Alphabet 'I Spy' in the Gardens. 10th-18th Feb, £2 per child (children must be accompanied by an adult for whom the garden entrance fee applies).
  • Fresh February Fun at Odds Farm Park, 10am: meet adorable baby animals and help bottlefeed kid goats; entertainers, arts and crafts to make.
  • Mud Pie Monday (12th Feb) and Winter Activity Trail (13th Feb), Earth Trust, 10am (£4).
  • Hibernating Hedgehogs, Hughendon Manor 12-16 Feb, 10.30am. Make a woodland creature in its own hibernation house. Cost £3.


Fun science

  • Science Oxford: The Light Fantastic, 14th Feb, Chipping Norton Theatre. Fun family show (ages 8+).
  • 'Think, Make, Do...Cyber' at Bletchley Park, 13-15 Feb, 11am.  Workshops exploring some of the highly relevant modern day issues of online safety and how these relate to the Bletchley Park Codebreakers (sutiable for ages 5+).
  • People & Planet: Operation Earth at the Museum of Natural History, Oxford, 12-14 Feb, 1pm.  Marvel at incredible planet Earth! Discover what it's made from and the spectacular things it can do.
  • Operation Earth: Live Science Show at the Museum of Natural History, 13th Feb, 2pm & 3pm. A spectacular family science show all about planet Earth. Help the doctor to find out why "Earthy" is poorly and see if together we can help (ages 6+).
  • Science of Magic at the Story Museum, Oxford, 15th Feb, 11am & 2pm. Science Oxford return to the Story Museum with another brilliant workshop looking at the science behind a series of amazing magic tricks (tickets £7/£5, ages 6+).

  • Children's Jewellery Making Workshop at Millets Farm Centre (ages 6-9+, £9.99).
  • Urban Art Workshop, Museum of Oxford, 15th Feb, 12pm. Have a go at creating street-style art and see your work on display in the exciting new Urban Art exhibition! Free - online booking essential.


History and culture

  • Vintage Bus Rides at Oxford Bus Museum, 14-15 Feb, 11.30am & 2pm. Find out the story of bus and coach travel around Oxfordshire over the last 130 years and enjoy a ride in a vintage bus.
  • Terrific Tudors at the Vale & Downland Museum, Wantage, 10am.  Come and find out about life in the Tudor period in this family friendly event.  Free.
  • Chinese New Year at the Ashmolean, 14-15 Feb, 1pm.  Take part in a Chinese New Year Party with stories and craft activities to celebrate the Year of the Dog.
  • People & Planet: World Stories at the Pitt Rivers Museum, 15-16 Feb, 1pm. Handle objects from around the world and be inspired to write, draw and share your own stories. Ages 6+.
