From Sept 2018, the Transitional Governance Committee replaces the IAC as the governing body of Wheatley Primary School. This marks the beginning of our journey, from a governance perspective, towards our exit from special measures and will transition into a full governing body when that time comes. Like the IAC, the TGC is a small body appointed on a short-term basis (one year) with members appointed directly by ODST and largely selected for their professional expertise in areas most valuable to the school during its journey out of special measures. Unlike the IAC, new members will be added to the TGC over the course of the year to include representatives from the staff and parent communities, and others.
The TGC's main functions remain to secure a sound basis for future improvement in the school and promote high standards of educational achievement, but the new structure allows us to broaden our focus to consider other aspects of school and community. The TGC has two sub-committees:
The TGC will meet once every half term, with the sub committees meeting before each TGC meeting and reporting into it. The Exec group will meet more frequently (twice per half term) to keep a close eye on the school's progress against the Ofsted action plan and regular HMI monitoring visits.
We are excited to begin this new chapter in the life of Wheatley Primary School and look forward to working with staff and parents to make our school the best it can be!
If you have any questions for us, we can be contacted via the school address.
