Play rehearsals - we are getting there!

Toplink Sports Day

On Tuesday this week Year 6 went up to Wheatley Park for the day to take part in the annual TOPLINK competition. The children were split, along with children from other local primary schools, into teams representing different countries before taking part in team building events and a variety of sports. Although it was very hot, we had a fantastic time and the children enjoyed taking part in different activities and starting to make some new friends ready for September.

Congratulations go to:

Tag Rugby winners - Jamaica, including Ben and Noah

Cricket winners - Australia, including Jacob

Basketball winners - Cuba, including Jamie and George

Rowing winners - USA, including Ana and Beth

Additional congratulations go to Yago (Australia) and Honey (Jamaica) who were two of only four children at the event who were recognised for their attitude, receiving fair play awards. Well done!

Junior Maths Challenge

Back in April, some of the Year 6's took part in this year's UKMT Junior Maths Challenge run by Leeds University and we've just got the results through. Over 260,000 pupils from across the UK sat the JMC and the top 40% were awarded certificates. Well done to all the children who took part and especially to Denis, Elliot, Brendon and Io who all received bronze certificates, a fantastic achievement considering the challenge is actually aimed at children in Year's 7 and 8.

This is a sample question from this year's JMC, can you work it out?

"Max scored a goal half way through the second quarter of a teachers-vs-pupils netball match. At that point, what fraction of the whole match remained to be played? A = 1/4, B = 3/8, C = 1/2, D = 5/8, E = 3/4"

Last term of the year - hasn't it flown by?
