Active Leaders
At Wheatley we have a fantastic group of enthusiastic young sports leaders in Year 6 who help to organise and run playground activities for the children in our school, as well as for children at our neighbouring special school, John Watson. The active leaders also help to support the development of school sport and physical activity in school.
To help these children do the very best job they can, they are involved in a 2 week accredited training scheme with external trainers. The training includes; how to invent and improve games, how to give instructions and include others, basic first aid and how to stay safe. Through the training, children also develop leadership skills.
