Collective Worship

Introduction

At Wheatley Primary there is a daily act of collective worship which anchors our school community and provides an important opportunity for spiritual and moral development for pupils and staff. Across the week this can be whole school, key stage or class based. We draw on a range of resources to plan worship which is invitational, inclusive and inspiring. Our Y6 Junior Worship Leaders are involved in planning and delivering both worship and the whole school prayer space.

Reverend Nigel Hawkes is the vicar at St Mary the Virgin in Wheatley. He leads Collective Worship for both KS1 and KS2 weekly and we visit St. Mary's Church for Harvest and Easter services as well as other times.

Each term we explore one of our values through Bible stories and other key figures from today’s world and the past. We think about what it means to us and how it influences the way we think, feel and behave.

Term 1Positive
Term 2Loving
Term 3Resilient
Term 4Happy
Term 5Inspiring
Term 6Confident

This term we are focusing on being CONFIDENT

  • We keep an open mind and ask good questions
  • We are proud to be ourselves

Our Junior Worships leaders are once again sharing lots of inspirational words to help you tackle challenges and be the best you can be. We hope you enjoy finding them and thinking about how they apply to your life.

As with other aspects of school life we review and evaluate collective worship to identify strengths and areas for improvement. This includes an annual survey for pupils and staff.
