Tapestry at Wheatley

In our Reception classes we use a piece of educational software called ‘Tapestry’, which is an online tool to track and monitor a child’s learning. The tool enables teachers to create an electronic Learning Journey for each child in the class which is then used to collate observational evidence of a child's learning including photographs, video, audio and text. These learning moments are then linked to statutory learning outcomes and characteristics of effective learning. Next steps are provided, supporting teachers in planning for the next stage of a child's learning.

Parents/Carers and Tapestry

By logging in with a secure username and password, parents/carers are able to view their child’s observations, photographs and even videos from their reception year. There is even  an automated email to notify when a new observation or piece of work is available. This enables parents/carers to view their child’s learning experiences and reflect upon achievements with their child. 

Parents and carers are also warmly invited to add to their child’s Learning Journey by uploading photos, videos and comments, or commenting on observations made by staff. We love finding out which activities a child really enjoys and about the learning they get up to at home.

Tapestry for Remote Learning

Tapestry is used by teachers to set home learning activities over the course of the year. Activities are set weekly on the Tapestry App which parents/carers are able to access at home. Parent/carer responses to the activities can be returned via Tapestry and are added to the child's learning journey. Teachers are able to provide feedback via the comments section.

In the event of a full or partial school closure, remote learning will be provided via Tapestry. Live video meets will be accessible via Microsoft Teams while all other learning activities will be viewed on the Tapestry App.

If you are a parent and would like to download the Tapestry App, visit the google play or app store on your device. You will receive an activation email to set up your account as well as link it to your child's class and their teacher. Once you have linked the parent account with your child, you will be able to access all of Tapestry's functions.
