At Wheatley, we recognise the importance of enabling pupils to understand different cultures through learning a modern foreign language. We offer a relevant, broad and vibrant French curriculum in KS2 that will inspire and excite our pupils through a wide variety of topics and themes. Developing speaking, listening, reading and writing within the French language enables children to gain new vocabulary, confidence and grow respect for languages around the world.

Implementation - the teaching of French:

At Wheatley, French is woven into our weekly learning journey, guided by class teachers. French learning is an interactive experience, enriching our curriculum and broadening pupil horizons through the use of the Language Angels platform for mixed age classes. Additionally, the learning experience is enhanced through learning French songs in music. The fusion of whole class, individual, language and music activities immerses pupils in the beauty of a foreign language, fostering not only fluency but an appreciation for the language and culture.
