Research is an important aspect of the science curriculum, helping children become better independent learners. Research involves finding scientific information/answers using secondary sources, often using the internet or books to search for information. This is usually where it is impossible, impractical or unsafe for pupils to answer with first hand enquiries in the classroom.
This type of enquiry can help children distinguish between fact and opinion, to evaluate and compare sources and encourage pupils to recognise and discuss conflicting evidence and bias.
