Collective Worship

Reverend Nigel

At Wheatley Primary there is a daily act of collective worship which anchors our school community and provides an important opportunity for spiritual and moral development for pupils and staff. Across the week this can be whole school, key stage or class based. We draw on a range of resources to plan worship which is invitational, inclusive and inspiring. Our Y6 Junior Worship Leaders are involved in planning and delivering both worship and the whole school prayer space.

Reverend Nigel leads Collective Worship for both KS1 and KS2 weekly and we visit St. Mary's Church for Harvest and Easter services as well as other times.

Each term we explore one of our values through Bible stories and other key figures from today’s world and the past. We think about what it means to us and how it influences the way we think, feel and behave.

Term 1Positive
Term 2Loving
Term 3Resilient
Term 4Happy
Term 5Inspiring
Term 6Confident

This term we are focusing on being INSPIRING

  • We seek new challenges
  • We support everyone to shine

We will be exploring how to approach and embrace challenge, using our talents for good and how we can encourage others so that we all have the best chance possible to be the best we can be.

Let everything you say be good and helpful so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.                                                                                                               Ephesians 4:29

In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.                                                                                   Matthew 5:16

This term our Junior Worships leaders will be sharing lots of inspirational words to help you tackle challenges and be the best you can be. All you have to do is find them - they could be anywhere around school on the ground or at eye level! Look carefully and when you find one have a think about what it means and how it applies to your life.

As with other aspects of school life we review and evaluate collective worship to identify strengths and areas for improvement. This includes an annual survey for pupils and staff.
