Absence from School

We understand that, from time to time, a child will be absent from school due to illness or other reasons. Please call the school office on 01865 872366 as soon as possible and before 9am on the first day of absence, when you know your child will be absent from school. A message can be left out of hours.

When you contact the school, you will be asked about the reasons for absence.  Asking these questions will help us to code your child's absence appropriately and provide the right advice and support. 

If your child has sickness and/or diarrhoea, they are required for health and safety reasons to have 48 hours out of school after the last incident.

Registration and Punctuality

Please ensure your child arrives at school on time at their allocated drop off point. This will enable them to access the full educational offer at school.

• Registers open at 8.35am (registers taken at 8.45/8.50am) and close at 9.10am.
• Pupils arriving after the start of school but before the end of registration period will be treated for statistical purposes, as present, but will be coded as late (L) before registers close.
• In line with safeguarding procedures any pupil arriving after 9.10am will be marked as having an unauthorised absence (U) unless there is an acceptable explanation due to exceptional circumstances. Parents/ carers must contact the school by telephone to provide information about the reason for absence.
• The afternoon registration will be at 12.50pm for reception and 1.05pm for key stages 1 and 2. The registers will close at 1.10pm (R/1/2) and 1.25pm (KS2)
