Together we thrive
"I have come in order that you might have life - life in all its fullness"
John 10:10
Theological Underpinning of the Vision:
As a Church of England school, the school mirrors the church’s vision for an education which promotes ‘life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10). Its core purpose is to educate the whole child; uniting excellence and academic rigour with spiritual, social, moral and cultural development - enabling every child to thrive.
Jesus said ‘I have come that you may have life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10). He calls us to a full life in mind, body and spirit. Jesus is the good shepherd and inspires us as a school community in our purpose of striving to provide guidance, restoration and comfort just like the loving shepherd.
In this verse, Jesus says he has come ‘in order that you might have life - life in all its fullness’. This is a reminder that it is possible for us to know a full life, in which we know and feel the security of being in the hands of the good shepherd.
‘I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.’ (John 10:14).
Following consultation with pupils, families and staff in Autumn 2019 we further developed our 'Life in all its fullness' foundation by agreeing six core Christian values. We considered these two questions - What kind of person do we want our Y6s to be when they leave primary school? What will enable them to thrive in today's world?
Yes we can!
We encourage everyone to have a go.
We respect each other and feel listened to.
We enjoy our learning adventures.
We seek new challenges.
We support everyone to shine.
We know that mistakes are marvellous and help us learn.
We can't do this yet but watch us try until we can.
We include everyone and share together.
We show kindness to all, whether they are happy, sad, cross or afraid.
We keep an open mind and ask good questions.
We are proud to be ourselves.
