Listening

Listening at Wheatley

At Wheatley we aim to provide access to a wide range of music for the children to listen to from all ages, genres and cultures. We use a scheme called Musician of the Month to help resource us with the depth and range that we feel is important to allow the children to have full appreciation of music and how it is made. Every month the musician of the month is revealed to families via Class Dojo and families are encouraged to listen together and express their preferences and feelings about the music. This musician is then listened to as the children come into assembly and as part of their weekly music lessons where they can discuss further the thoughts they have about the musician, their music and the part the musician plays in musical and cultural history.

It is our aim that through the curriculum we provide, children will be able to;

Early years outcomes for listening
